Joins Brighton on five-year deal

Costinha signed with Brighton from Olympiacos on a five-year contract through June 2031 for undisclosed terms, the club announced.

Analysis: Costinha made 74 appearances for Olympiacos after joining in 2024, establishing himself as a key figure in the Greek side both domestically and in European competition. The 26-year-old Portuguese right-back is known for his defensive reliability, energy down the right flank and growing comfort in possession, having developed through the academy system in Portugal before breaking into senior football with Rio Ave in the Primeira Liga. Coach Fabian Hurzeler expressed his delight at the signing, highlighting his defensive capabilities, intensity and understanding of the club's values as key factors behind the decision. "Costinha is a player we have followed closely for some time. He has the defensive capabilities, intensity and understanding of what we value and we feel he will be an excellent addition to the squad. He is also comfortable in and out of possession of the ball and will add competition at right-back, alongside our existing options." Costinha has also represented Portugal at youth level from the under-18 through to the under-21 side.
